Owner-to-owner lending, for Utah businesses.

Why it exists

A gap that small towns have always filled by hand.

Small businesses in Utah County are not short on people who believe in them. They are short on a clean way for those people to lend: a verified picture of the business, documents that hold up, a lien that is actually filed, a schedule somebody keeps, and a record at the end of it.

Plenty of good Utah businesses need a loan that is too small or too unusual to be anyone’s priority. For as long as there have been small towns, that gap has been filled by one owner lending to another, informally, with all the trouble informality brings.

Tenon is that arrangement, papered. The lender is a member who has been verified and can see the business in full. The note is real, the personal guarantee is real, the lien is filed, the payments are reconciled against the bank, and everyone gets a statement. Tenon stays out of the money entirely.

The name

Why the name Tenon.

A tenon is the part of a woodworking joint that fits into a matching socket in another piece, the mortise, so two separate parts hold as one. The mark is that joint, drawn flat: two pieces, side by side, neither on top of the other. It is the idea in one shape: one business backing another, on paper that holds up.

Said up front

What Tenon is not.

Tenon is not a bank and not a lender. Tenon, LLC does not lend its own money, hold anyone else’s, or move funds between parties. It is a broker and a platform: it builds and verifies profiles, scores them, runs a closed deal room for members, papers the loans, and keeps the books. Its fees are published on the pricing page, and that is all it is paid.

Two doors. One set of rules.

I run a business and need a loan.

Read the credit box, check the math, and send a short interest form. A person replies, and the answer comes with its reason.
